Progress of e-Kalvi Centres in Sri Lanka
So far, we have established over 35 e-Kalvi centers in the Northern, Eastern, Uva, Central, Subragamuva and Southern provinces of Sri Lanka. All centres are managed by an administrative committee comprising parents, teachers and well-wishers from that community.
All the e-Kalvi centers are provided with a variety of multimedia equipment, including computers, tablets, multimedia projectors, projector screens and multifunction photocopiers. Monthly running costs are handled by JUGA-Vic and well-wishers from local and expatriate communities. They publish end-of-term financial reports and reports entailing the progress of students. All centres have their own bank account and all expenses over Rs1000 are made using cheques signed by at least two office-bearers.
All centres are provided with e-lessons prepared by the SERVE foundation, headed by Dr Nagalingam Ethirveerasingam, Northern Provincial Council (NPC) and e-Kalvi Charity Fund Inc. These e-Lesson videos are prepared in the Tamil medium and are based on Sri Lankan curriculums. All these lessons are provided as offline materials on USB memory sticks for students to easily access.
How can you help?
When you support the e-Kalvi project, you are helping us to build stronger education systems for students in need. Our services provide students with the chance to gain the skills and knowledge they want and need. Your support means that we can sustain our support for students in need, to ensure that they receive the future they deserve.
You can support these centres by providing a one-time donation, or by signing up to our “Dollar a Day” donation campaign. You can make a one-time donation now by clicking here.
